Your home wifi network may encounter various issues that slow down its speed. Here are five tips to optimize your wifi signal. <\/i><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Everyone expects to enter their home and connect to the Internet.<\/strong> Yet sometimes it happens that the wifi doesn't work, perhaps right when you're streaming your favorite TV series. How frustrating can that be? If this happens, it's because you haven't made some simple adjustments that increase the signal strength.<\/p>\n

Our initial advice, therefore, is to carefully consider the connection offer and to prefer the one that most of all grants you this freedom.<\/p>\n

Home Wi-Fi: router placement<\/b><\/h3>\n

Many of the issues related to wifi signal strength at home are caused by positioning problems. Even if you are skilled at installing the router, it is very important to know exactly where to place it. The signal, in fact, becomes weak, for example, if you have placed it at too low a height. This is because radio waves encounter many more obstacles in this case. It is therefore useful to place it as high as possible.<\/p>\n

For the same purpose be careful if the router is placed near microwaves, Bluetooth devices, or lights.<\/strong> Or if it is behind a concrete pillar. In these cases, the signal will tend to be disturbed and therefore decrease. In addition to the highest point, also try to position it at the center of the house: only in this way can the signal cover the different areas of your home.<\/p>\n

Slow wifi connection: check the frequency<\/b><\/h3>\n

Another cause of wifi signal slowdown could be due to overexposure, perhaps with your neighbor's apartment. Routers transmit the signal on the 2.4 GHz frequency, which includes 14 channels.<\/strong> It may happen that your neighbors are also transmitting on the same channel, which can cause overexposure issues.<\/span><\/p>\n

How to solve them? You need to go back to your router's configuration and look for a less \"congested\" channel. The latest router models are capable of automatically identifying the least busy channel, but there are also some software tools that can assist you. One of these is<\/span> WI-Fi Analyzer<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wifi password: is it time to change it?<\/b><\/h3>\n

Bandwidth is not infinite. Therefore, it could become congested if, for example, you have revealed your wifi password to your neighbor, or if someone has managed to discover it: there are now techniques that allow this to be done easily.<\/p>\n

Putting your Wi-Fi password in someone's hands is a risk<\/strong>, not only because it can slow down your connection, but especially for the<\/span> security of your data<\/span><\/a> and because it could expose you to liability for actions committed by others on the Internet using your connection<\/span>. If you think your connection has been compromised, change your wifi password.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wi-Fi connection: free up space<\/b><\/h3>\n

There are programs, such as those that utilize streaming platforms or those for video games, that require a large amount of bandwidth to function. This is why it may happen that, just when you are working on something urgent, your connection noticeably slows down.<\/p>\n

In this case, the solution is to close applications and programs that require a lot of bandwidth<\/strong>: you will see that you will return to browsing at an acceptable speed.<\/p>\n

There are tools that can help you reduce and optimize data consumption<\/strong>. NetBalancer is one of the most well-known. What does it allow you to do? The program reports the occupied bandwidth, thus allowing you to set priorities on bandwidth usage. You can also set a maximum consumption threshold for each selected program.<\/p>\n

WiFi signal: boost it with extenders and powerline adapters<\/b><\/h3>\n

There are also some devices that allow for improving the wifi signal.
