Only a few days left until the launch of Apro19<\/a> (June 28, Auditorium Roma Eventi, via Alibert, 5 A, Rome), our annual event to take stock, together with institutions, citizens, entrepreneurs, and authorities, on the state of telecommunications in Italy<\/b>.<\/p>\n

This year's lineup is rich: among others, there will be,\u00a0 Paolo Romani<\/b>e Antonello Giacomelli<\/b>, respectively former Minister of Telecommunications <\/b>and former undersecretary with responsibility for communications, Marco Bellezza from Mise, legal advisor for communications and digital innovation to Deputy Prime Minister Di Maio.<\/p>\n

Other guests present: Michele Gubitosa (M5S), Nicola Fratoianni (LEU), Elena Murelli (LEGA), economist Matteo Decina and Antonio Nicita, one of the AGCOM commissioners.<\/b><\/p>\n

Among the many speeches, the one by Paolo di Francesco, member of the board of directors, Paolo Di Francesco<\/b> – has already inaugurated a project that will lead the first 5G trials in Busseto Pallizzolo<\/a>, a rural Sicilian community. His company is a recent winner of Flame, an open call funded by the European Community.<\/p>\n

5G and Digital Divide<\/h2>\n

The speakers at the event will debate, among other things, two crucial topics for the development of Italian telecommunications, 5G and digital divide<\/a>, the digital divide that is hindering Italy's development:<\/p>\n

\"Apro19 is an opportunity to feel part of a large community. For years, we have been striving to give a voice and also provide answers to small and medium-sized telecom operators who are essential for the digital expansion of the country, but I knownot crushed by unfair economic logics that reward the usual suspects, to the detriment of citizens. <\/b>For them, the time for complaining that the world of telecommunications is not as they want it to be is over. By joining us, they will work towards a fairer telecommunications future with more opportunities. Apro19 is the gateway to start moving in this direction,\" explains Dino Bortolotto.<\/b><\/p>\n

The whole truth about 5G and the need for new business models<\/h2>\n

Apro19 will also be an opportunity to take stock of 5G and unveil the many inaccuracies and lies told in recent months about the technology:<\/p>\n

\"The real revolution was the transistors and the TCP IP protocol; 5G can only exist thanks to these real innovations. Today, the experimentation of the technology is entrusted to a single operator that offers it in only one part of the country. In this way, there is no real development model.\". The key is interoperability, the sharing of knowledge, the presence of many different players in the market<\/b>\u00bb<\/p>\n

The issue of 5G is inextricably linked to the digital divide,<\/b> the true \"cancer\" that prevents the full development of digital (and its opportunities) in this country, as the president emphasizes:<\/p>\n

\"We must have the courage to say enough to business models that concentrate everything in the hands of a few operators.\" <\/b>The digital divide is tackled with business models that involve small local telecom operators. It is precisely they who have always experimented with new technologies, collaborated, and concretely worked to bring the Internet to areas considered market failures.<\/p>\n
