PRESS RELEASE
Arrives APRO18the Roman stage of Assoprovider
Rome, June 15-16, 2018 – Roma Eventi, via Alibert 5
The Assembly of Independent Providers will debate on Blockchain e GDPR
An all-Italian Blockchain, new privacy requirements, and measures to combat unfair competition in telecommunications. Many topics are on the table at the Assoprovider assembly. The association, founded in 1996, fights for fairer market conditions and to promote the distribution of ultra-broadband throughout the country. The usual end-of-year Assoprovider assembly will take place in Rome on June 15 and 16, at the Roma Eventi center, via Alibert, 5, just a few steps from Piazza di Spagna.
The event is a two-day gathering where association members open up to institutional guests to discuss with them the fundamental topics for the development of telecommunications infrastructure and services in Italy.
In this context, there will be room to discuss an Italian blockchain project, the innovative technology behind the functioning of bitcoin, and the requirements set by the GDPR, the European regulation for the processing of personal data, which came into effect in May of this year: "The new challenges of telecommunications are not only infrastructural but also regulatory, and in some cases, they could negatively impact the development of small operators working to make investments to bridge the digital divide at the local level. It is increasingly necessary to meet, ally, and present ourselves as a united front to have proper representation of a sector like ours, which is often not appropriately considered—as specific weight and as adequacy and proportionality of the proposed measures on strategic issues, by the national and European Legislator. Only in this way will we contribute to the creation of regulations that can guarantee the economic rights of smaller operators," explains Dino Bortolotto, president of the Association.
APRO 2018: the topics on the table
Blockchain and GDPR are just some of the main topics that will be addressed in a schedule full of subjects. During the two-day event, there will also be discussions on the digital divide and the issues of "rigged competition" in the telecommunications sector. Other key issues include the allocation of licensed and unlicensed frequencies, public funding for TLC and ICT infrastructures: "For years, the association has been fighting to bring clarity to the telecommunications market. What has always driven our actions is the realization of rights often trampled by the logic of the big players in the sector. To win the battles, we have always focused on information: spreading knowledge is the first step to gathering fresh forces and achieving new goals," continues Dino Bortolotto, president of the Association.
Space for the Pioneers of the Network
The two-day event will also be an opportunity to honor the men and women who have made the history of the Internet. Thanks to a partnership with Lab TV, Assoprovider will offer visibility to those who want to tell the story of their business and how it has contributed to the spread of the Internet in the area where it operates. For applications, write to CANDIDATURE@PIONIERIDELLARETE.IT sharing your story as a Pioneer; if deemed appropriate, you will be interviewed in Rome on June 15th, and a video content of your interview will be produced to share on social media.
The event will feature, among others, Dino Bortolotto, president of Assoprovider, Giovanbattista Frontera, vice president of Assoprovider, Marcello Cama, Assoprovider advisor, Maurizio Matteo Dècina, economist. To participate, you need to register at the link https://bit.ly/2IVgxnr
The complete event schedule will soon be available on www.apro18.it
Assoprovider is the association that since 1999 has brought together the first Internet providers (Internet Service Providers) who have contributed with their battles against multinationals to spread the Internet in the country. Among the association's achievements is the approval of the "Legge Salvaprovider," which equated ISPs with telephone operators, and the liberalization of WIFI in public venues or confined areas of public attendance.
