The association of internet service providers challenges the administrative sanction imposed by AGCOM in the case of the Piracy Shield and chooses to appeal the decision before the Administrative Court.
Assoprovider, the association that protects the rights of independent Internet service providers, appeals to the TAR against the fine imposed by AGCOM imposed on it last April for "obstruction of supervisory activities."
Specifically, the administrative sanction came in the wake of the AGCOM's refusal to provide access to the Piracy Shield platform records, the anti-piracy system that has been widely debated since its establishment. In particular, Assoprovider had requested the list of access inhibition measures, implemented precisely through the platform, especially because the inhibitions had also involved subjects completely unrelated to piracy activities.
Moreover, this was just one of the initiatives against the inequities of the measure: the association has fought against the Piracy Shield platform from the beginning, with various initiatives:
"The damages caused by the Piracy Shield are somewhat evident to everyone. It was not and is not the solution to the piracy problem, as we have emphasized from the beginning. Appealing the AGCOM fine seems to us the right choice, especially because there cannot be a punitive measure against those who, like us, have requested greater transparency in the management of the platform," explains Giovanbattista Frontera, president of Assoprovider.
"It is a right of citizens to be correctly informed about measures and choices that have a direct impact on their lives and businesses. Assoprovider will not stop in its battle for transparency," concludes Frontera.
