The Assembly of Independent Providers will meet on June 15 and 16
An all-Italian Blockchain, new privacy obligations and measures to combat unfair competition in telecommunications. Many topics are on the table at the Assoprovider assembly. The association, founded in 1996, fights for fairer market conditions and for promote the distribution of ultra-broadband throughout the Country. The usual end-of-year assembly of Assoprovider will take place in Rome on June 15 and 16, at the Roma Eventi center, via Alibert, 5, just a few steps from Piazza di Spagna.
The event is a two-day gathering where association members open up to institutional guests to discuss with them the fundamental topics for the development of telecommunications infrastructure and services in Italy.
In this context, there will be room to discuss an Italian blockchain project, the innovative technology behind the functioning of bitcoin, and the obligations provided by the GDPR, the European regulation for the processing of personal data, which came into force in May of this year:
The new challenges in telecommunications are not only infrastructural but also regulatory, and in some cases, they could negatively impact the development of small operators committed to making investments to bridge the digital divide at the local level.
It is increasingly necessary to meet, ally, and present ourselves as a united front to ensure proper representation of a sector like ours, which is often not adequately considered — both in terms of specific weight and the appropriateness and proportionality of the measures proposed on strategic issues by the national and European Legislator. Only in this way will we contribute to the creation of regulations that can guarantee the economic rights of smaller operators," explains Dino Bortolotto, president of the Association.
APRO18: the topics on the table
Blockchain and GDPR are just some of the main topics that will be addressed in a calendar full of subjects. During the two-day event, there will also be discussions on the digital divide, the issues of "distorted competition" in the telecommunications sector, and other fundamental issues, such as the allocation of licensed and unlicensed frequencies, of public funding for TLC and ICT infrastructure: "For years, the association has been carrying out its battles to bring clarity to the telecommunications market. What has always driven our actions is the realization of rights often trampled by the logic of the big players in the sector. To win the battles, we have always focused on information: spreading knowledge is the first step to gather fresh forces and achieve new milestones," continues Dino Bortolotto, president of the Association.
