Gonzalo Elguezabal Ayala at APMAT26: the European comparison with AOTEC

APMAT26 will host the speech by Gonzalo Elguezabal Ayala, representative of AOTEC, the Spanish association of local telecommunications operators.

The presence of AOTEC represents one of the most significant milestones of the 2026 edition: for the first time, the dialogue promoted by Assoprovider is structurally open to interaction with a European association reality very close to the experience of the Proximity Operators Italians.

Gonzalo Elguezabal Ayala's contribution will allow for an in-depth exploration of the Spanish model of local operators: companies rooted in the territories, capable of building networks, bringing connectivity to underserved areas, developing digital services, and maintaining a direct relationship with communities, citizens, and businesses.

For Assoprovider, this dialogue holds strategic value. It means connecting different national experiences, identifying common challenges, sharing development models, and strengthening a European vision for independent operators.

Proximity Operators are not a uniquely Italian specificity: they represent an essential component of the European digital ecosystem, especially in areas where technical expertise, local presence, investment capacity, and concrete knowledge of community needs are required.

AOTEC's intervention at APMAT26 will therefore be a concrete opportunity to discuss local networks, investment sustainability, digital divide, European collaboration, and the role of independent operators in the development of digital infrastructures.

With this contribution, APMAT26 confirms its international vocation: building a bridge between operators, associations, companies, and institutions to strengthen the future of proximity networks in Italy and Europe.
