Assoprovider always at the forefront to bring the Network to all citizens. This is precisely the mission of the initiative of one of our members, Consulsat by Antonella Oliviero which, in collaboration with the municipal administration of Pietrastornina (province of Avellino), has activated a hotspot for free Internet access for citizens.
Hotspot, an added value for the community
Hotspots are spreading all over the world. They represent a necessary service that allows users to stay online both for work and leisure, and above all help tourists find the businesses they need, and local companies to promote themselves. A win-win deal where everyone benefits, as recounted Amato Rizzo, mayor of Pietrastornina:
«Internet accessible through hot spots represents an added value for a community that wants to look towards Europe. Increase the communication effectiveness of institutional portals, with the possibility of accessing information services related to Institutions, tourism, and social sectors, available through the use of today's most widespread devices: smartphones, tablets, and all other mobile devices».
Hotspots to reduce the digital divide
The initiative, presented in recent days, within the conference ""Internet Accessible – A Network of Opportunities" also has another noble objective: to reduce the digital divide in small municipalities, those many in Italy, where large companies have no interest in operating:
«Faithful to the principles that bind us to Assoprovider, we enthusiastically participated in this initiative. A provider finds its greatest reason for existence in the social dimension. Only by helping the development of a community is it possible to improve the lives of others, and with this, also one's own business. », stated Antonella Oliviero from Consulsat and national councilor of Assoprovider.
«The comparison with other Assoprovider members then shows that the digital divide issue is a national emergency, and not just a problem of the South. Initiatives like these can serve as an incentive for everyone», he added.
