5G, Assoprovider against the extension of electromagnetic emissions

5G

The association of proximity operators explains the threats of raising 5G limits for the survival of small and medium-sized enterprises.

Assoprovider against the increase of 5G limits. The association of proximity operators opposes to the extension of the boundaries of electromagnetic emissions in our country which sets a quality target at 6V/m.

No to the increase is the firm response of Assoprovider towards the Government that study changes to the current legislation and that are moving in this dangerous direction, both to trade associations and multinational companies that are pushing to adjust the limits to EU parameters.

The increase will destroy the market for small and medium telecom operators

The extension of the limits risks being a ruin for small and medium telecom operators, but also for the territories in which these companies operate. This is the complaint of the association that has always is at the forefront in defending the rights of small and medium operators and to ensure quality internet services for citizens, even in market failure areas.

For over 20 years, its members have been committed to bridging the digital divide, creating thousands of jobs, and making the internet accessible to millions of people:

"Our associated entrepreneurs, who should receive a medal of valor for their commitment and for bringing the Internet to the homes of ordinary citizens and the most remote PAs, are now at risk of closing or, to limit the damage, reducing staff. The increase would only serve the interests of the major players in the sector, effectively excluding small and medium operators from the market," denounces Giambattista Frontera, president of Assoprovider.

5G risks and market alterations

The limits for electromagnetic emissions have been set in Italy at a attention value and quality target equal to 6 V/m.  In addition to the risks to human health from the increase, which the scientific community has debated for years, Assoprovider believes that it will not be a true benefit in the digital divide reduction:

"Just look at the Italian territory, which is complicated from an orographic point of view due to the mountain ranges present, compared to the prairies in the rest of Europe, to understand that the increase risks slowing down more effective and widespread interventions on Italian Networks," concludes Frontera.
